Swimming Pool in Central London
A quieter place to swim in Central London
Tucked below the streets of St. James’s, our 12-metre swimming pool feels a world away from the pace of Central London. It’s quiet, calm and secluded, with a glass skylight overhead that brings natural light into the space. Swim gently at your own pace, or turn on the Fastlane current for a more challenging workout.
Just a 15-20 minute walk from Piccadilly Circus, Soho and Mayfair, it’s a tranquil spot to disappear for an hour without leaving the West End. Access requires a gym pass or membership.
Swim against the current with Fastlane Technology
Fastlane Technology creates an adjustable current for you to swim against continuously, turning a compact pool into a challenging training space.
Remote-controlled, you can increase or decrease the current speed as you swim, while the display shows your pace based on the time it would take to cover 100 metres. There’s no need to turn around, and no separate booking is required to use the Fastlane.
London gym with sauna, steam room & spa pool
Alongside the pool, the sauna, steam room and spa pool give you three different ways to ease tired muscles. Warm through in the sauna, let the steam take the edge off a hard session, or sink into the bubbles and do very little.
Because Nordic Balance St. James’s is smaller and more secluded than many Central London gyms with a pool, these spaces are easier to enjoy even at peak times, before work, over lunch or at the end of the day.
Gym in the heart of Central London
Our St. James’s club has been helping people train, recover and look after their bodies since 2008, with a gym, pool, personal training and clinical care all under one roof.

The pool is 12 metres long and 1.4 metres deep.
Our fast lane machine is connected to one end of the pool and controlled with a simple remote, with ‘On/Off’ and ‘Speed Up/Speed Down’ controls; this allows an individual to control the speed of their swim for as long as they like.
We have a small display above the machine that shows the current speed. This is displayed in the time it would take to cover 100m (4 lengths of a standard pool).
