Osteopathy Clinic London
Expert osteopathy in London
Osteopathy helps you move more freely, ease recurring aches and stay active without your body constantly getting in the way. Our osteopaths look beyond the area that hurts to understand how your whole body moves, using hands-on treatment across the cranial, joints, and soft tissues to reduce pain and tension and restore mobility.
Book an appointment today to experience improved movement and relief at our clinics in St. James’s, Clapham, Battersea and Wimbledon Village.
Types of osteopathy treatments
Our London osteopaths offer four broad osteopathy approaches: traditional osteopathy for pain, stiffness, and movement problems; cranial osteopathy for gentler hands-on treatment; paediatric osteopathy for babies, children, and teenagers; and pregnancy and postnatal osteopathy to support the body through pregnancy, birth, and recovery.

Our osteopathic treatment approach
Our tailored treatment plans typically follow three phases: easing pain and tension, restoring movement and addressing compensations, and supporting long-term mobility and resilience-helping you feel more confident in your recovery process.
If you need support beyond osteopathy, we can refer you to other practitioners within the Nordic Balance team, including physios and sports therapists, so your care stays connected.
-
The first stage focuses on settling irritated or restricted areas and helping you move more comfortably. Treatment may include soft tissue massage, myofascial release, muscle energy techniques, breathing work and, depending on your osteopath, cranial or visceral techniques.
-
As symptoms ease, your osteopath looks at the wider picture — including posture, gait and how different parts of your body may be compensating for one another. Treatment can combine joint articulation, stretching, and movement work with practical advice on sleep, hydration, and everyday habits to help you return to a more comfortable baseline.
-
Once you’re moving well again, osteopathy can become more proactive. Periodic treatment, mobility and strength work, posture management and lifestyle guidance can help you maintain progress, manage recurring stiffness and support comfortable movement as the demands on your body change over time.

Still have questions?
New to Nordic Balance? Start with an initial assessment so we can understand your symptoms, assess the issue and agree on the right treatment plan. For ongoing care, book a 30- or 45-minute follow-up depending on your plan. A reassessment is required if it’s been more than six months since your last visit, or if your injury, symptoms or treatment needs have changed. If you’re using private health insurance, please contact us before booking.
Your first osteopathic assessment usually lasts up to 45 minutes. During that time, your osteopath will assess your symptoms, movement, and relevant medical history; explain their diagnosis; talk you through your treatment options; and agree on a clear plan with you. If it’s safe and appropriate, treatment can also begin in that first session.
Initial osteopathic assessments at Nordic Balance last up to 45 minutes, giving your osteopath time to assess, diagnose and agree on a treatment plan with you. Follow-up appointments usually last 30 or 45 minutes, depending on what your therapist has recommended.
Many private health insurance providers cover osteopathy, particularly for musculoskeletal conditions. Nordic Balance osteopaths are registered with a range of UK health insurers, such as Bupa.
Your excess, level of cover and how you claim will depend on your individual policy, so it’s worth checking the terms before booking. If you’re unsure, our team can help guide you through the process; contact us today for support.
There’s overlap between all three, but the main difference is where they tend to focus.
- Choose physiotherapy if you’re recovering from an injury or surgery, or need to rebuild strength, movement and function through structured rehabilitation.
- Choose osteopathy if the cause of your problem is less obvious, or you want a broader assessment of how different parts of your body, movement and day-to-day habits may be contributing.
- Choose osteopathic treatment if your concern is centred around the spine, posture or how you move, with treatment likely to include manual therapy, manipulation and exercise.
Still unsure? Tell us what you’re experiencing, and we’ll help guide you to the right practitioner.
Cranial osteopathy is a gentle, hands-on approach that considers the whole body. For babies, it may support concerns around feeding and latching, tongue-tie, reflux, gas or bloating, favouring one side when feeding or rolling, and musculoskeletal tension following birth. Osteopaths may also assess areas affected by birth trauma or changes in head shape, with treatment adapted carefully to the individual baby.
Cranial osteopathy is also suitable for adults.
