Our physiotherapy treatment approach
Whilst all treatment plans are tailored, our physiotherapists use three broad phases to help you move forward: first settling irritation, then restoring movement and strength, and finally building the capacity to handle more.
Your treatment will adapt as you progress and may include hands-on therapy, tailored exercise rehab plans, postural work, education, sports massage techniques and treatments such as Shockwave Therapy.
Beyond physiotherapy, we can refer you internally to other practitioners within the Nordic Balance team, including podiatrists and sports therapists, so your care stays connected.
-
The priority is to help you feel better and move more comfortably as soon as possible. After a detailed 45-minute assessment, your physiotherapist may use hands-on treatment, gentle movement and heat or ice to settle pain and irritation and improve mobility.
VALD Dynamo strength testing can also establish a clear baseline, so we can measure change as you progress.
You’ll leave with practical advice, a clear treatment plan and, where relevant, exercises to follow at home.
-
As things settle, the focus shifts to strengthening your body. Targeted mobility, stretching, and strength work can help you regain range of motion, improve control, and return to everyday activities while gradually rebuilding the resilience you need for what comes next.
-
The goal isn’t simply to get you back to where you were. It’s to help your body cope confidently with the demands you place on it. Progressive strength training, plyometrics or sport-specific exercises may form part of this phase, alongside practical guidance and longer-term strength planning to support performance and reduce the risk of the same problem returning.

Still have questions?
New to Nordic Balance? Start with an initial assessment so we can understand your symptoms, assess the issue and agree on the right treatment plan. For ongoing care, book a 30- or 45-minute follow-up depending on your plan. A reassessment is required if it’s been more than six months since your last visit, or if your injury, symptoms or treatment needs have changed. If you’re using private health insurance, please contact us before booking.
Your first physiotherapy appointment lasts up to 45 minutes. During that time, your physiotherapist will assess your symptoms, movement and relevant lifestyle and medical history, explain their diagnosis, talk you through your treatment options and agree a clear plan with you. If it’s safe and appropriate, treatment can also begin in that first session.
Initial assessments at Nordic Balance last up to 45 minutes, giving your physiotherapist time to assess, diagnose and agree on a treatment plan with you. Follow-up appointments usually last 30 or 45 minutes, depending on your therapist’s recommendations.
Across London, private physiotherapy varies, but the average in central and South London ranges between £75–£150 for an initial 45–60-minute assessment, with follow-up appointments commonly costing £60–£100 for 30–45 minutes.
At Nordic Balance, an initial 45-minute physiotherapy assessment costs £95.
If you need ongoing rehabilitation, our 5-session clinical treatment block is £300 and valid for three months, equivalent to £60 per session, compared with £75 when booked individually, saving you £75 across the block. Beyond the savings, the block gives you continuity, a clear rehabilitation plan and regular progress checks to help you keep moving forward.
Unlike many Central London clinics, our prices don’t increase at our St. James’s clinic. We offer the same rate across all four Nordic Balance locations.
Many private health insurance providers cover physiotherapy, particularly for musculoskeletal conditions. Nordic Balance physiotherapists are registered with a range of UK health insurers, such as Bupa. Your excess, level of cover and how you claim will depend on your individual policy, so it’s worth checking the terms before booking. If you’re unsure, our team can help guide you through the process; contact us today for support.
There’s overlap between all three, but the main difference is where they tend to focus.
- Choose physiotherapy if you’re recovering from an injury or surgery, or need to rebuild strength, movement and function through structured rehabilitation.
- Choose osteopathy if the cause of your problem is less obvious, or you want a broader assessment of how different parts of your body, movement and day-to-day habits may be contributing.
- Choose chiropractic care if your concern is centred around the spine, posture or how you move, with treatment likely to include manual therapy, manipulation and exercise.
Still unsure? Tell us what you’re experiencing, and we’ll help guide you to the right practitioner.
NHS physiotherapy provides essential care, while private physiotherapy at Nordic Balance offers faster access, more appointment flexibility and treatment shaped around your individual goals. We take time to understand what you want to get back to, build a personalised treatment plan and adjust your care as you progress.
