Our chiropractic treatment approach
Chiropractic care isn’t simply about “cracking” joints. Your treatment is shaped around how you move, what’s limiting you and what you need your body to do. Depending on your assessment, this may include spinal or joint mobilisation, chiropractic adjustments, soft tissue treatment, stretching, ergonomic advice and targeted exercise.
When you need support beyond chiropractic, we can refer you to other practitioners within the Nordic Balance team, including physios and sports therapists, so your care stays connected.
-
We start by settling pain and irritation and improving movement through the spine and other restricted joints. Treatment may include chiropractic adjustments or mobilisation, soft tissue therapy, gentle active release and postural advice.
-
As symptoms improve, treatment shifts towards mobility, biomechanics and how you move through daily life. Joint mobilisation, stretching, spinal stabilisation exercises, ergonomic assessment and movement changes help restore range of motion and get you comfortably back to normal activity.
-
The longer-term focus is maintaining mobility and reducing recurring problems. Advanced mobility work, ongoing ergonomic and lifestyle advice, posture management and periodic chiropractic treatment can help you stay active and manage the demands you place on your body.

Still have questions?
New to Nordic Balance? Start with an initial assessment so we can understand your symptoms, assess the issue and agree on the right treatment plan. For ongoing care, book a 30- or 45-minute follow-up depending on your plan. A reassessment is required if it’s been more than six months since your last visit, or if your injury, symptoms or treatment needs have changed. If you’re using private health insurance, please contact us before booking.
Your first chiropractic assessment usually lasts up to 45 minutes. During that time, your chiropractor will assess your symptoms, movement and relevant medical history, explain their diagnosis, talk you through your treatment options and agree on a clear plan with you. If it’s safe and appropriate, treatment can also begin in that first session.
Initial chiropractic assessments at Nordic Balance last up to 45 minutes, giving your chiropractor time to assess, diagnose and agree on a treatment plan with you. Follow-up appointments usually last 30 or 45 minutes, depending on what your therapist has recommended.
Many private health insurance providers cover chiropractic, particularly for musculoskeletal conditions. Nordic Balance chiros are registered with a range of UK health insurers, such as Bupa.
Your excess, level of cover and how you claim will depend on your individual policy, so it’s worth checking the terms before booking. If you’re unsure, our team can help guide you through the process; contact us today for support.
There’s overlap between all three, but the main difference is where they tend to focus.
- Choose physiotherapy if you’re recovering from an injury or surgery, or need to rebuild strength, movement and function through structured rehabilitation.
- Choose osteopathy if the cause of your problem is less obvious, or you want a broader assessment of how different parts of your body, movement and day-to-day habits may be contributing.
- Choose chiropractic treatment if your concern is centred around the spine, posture or how you move, with treatment likely to include manual therapy, manipulation and exercise.
Still unsure? Tell us what you’re experiencing, and we’ll help guide you to the right practitioner.
During a typical adjustment, you can expect gentle, precise movements that often produce a “clicking” or “popping” sound. This is normal and usually a sign of gas released from the joints. Most clients report feeling immediate relief after the session.
Our chiropractors will never do this excessively or without your permission.
Chiropractic adjustments are generally safe when performed by qualified, experienced chiropractors like those at Nordic Balance. Our chiropractors undergo extensive training to deliver precise and controlled adjustments tailored to your needs. While some mild soreness may occur after an adjustment, serious complications are extremely rare.
